Nanjing is one of four ancient capitals in China. Ten dynasties or regimes took Nanjing as the Capital since the third century, and there are plenty of  culture relics here. At 8 am, your guide will meet you at your hotel lobby in centrally located Nanjing hotels with a signage of Viator writing your name. Firstly you will visit Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum. Dr. Sun Yat-sen was the first president of Republic of China. He led the famous Revolution of 1911 and overthrew the Qing Dynasty. He ended China’s more than 2000-year long feudal monarchy and established Republic of China in 1912. His mausoleum was built on the Mt. Zhongshan with the combination of traditional Chinese and classical Western architectural style. You will climb up 392 steps to his tomb where you will view his statue sitting in the hall.
Afterwards you will move to visit Ming Xiaoling Tomb, Ming Tomb in Nanjing and 13 Ming Tombs in Beijing was inscibed on the list of world cultural Heritages by UNESCO in 2003. The Xiaoling tomb is situated at the foot of Purple Mountain to bury the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, Emperor Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang. The tomb called Xiaoling because the emperor was said that he was good at administrating the country with his filial affection.
Later you will visit Zhonghua City Gate after lunch. It is the biggest city gate in the world which built in 600 years ago. Then you will contine to visit Confucius Temple,  which was first built in 1034 AD. The area surrounding the Temple is a popular place for social gatherings especially during the Spring, Lantern, and Mid-Autumn Festivals. There are plenty of colorful street vendors selling food and souvenirs. This is also a great area to find bargains on antiques.

Your tour starts with The Humble Administrator’s Garden, it is the largest private garden in Suzhou, which was listed as one of the four most famous national classic gardens together with the Summer Palace, Mountain Summer Resort in Chengde and Lingering Garden of Suzhou. The garden is especially fancied by overseas visitors and is praised as the most ornate and intact private gardens in Suzhou.

 

After lunch, move to Ouyuan, also refer to Couple's Retreat Garden. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a key cultural relic under state protection. This garden despite its narrow width features an artificial hill made from rock brought from Taihu Lake. Different from other Suzhou garden, the layout of the Couple's Retreat Garden is designed purposely. Not only it is a representation of Suzhou garden, but also it has its unique elements which is rooted in profound and broad Chinese culture.

 

Continue your tour to Canglang Pavilion, another UNESCO World Heritage Site it variously translated as Surging Wave Pavilion. It is the oldest among the existing classical gardens in Suzhou and also one of the four most famous gardens in the city -- the others being the Shizilin (Lion Grove), Zhuozhengyuan (Humble Administrator's Garden) and Liuyuan (Lingering Garden).

The last stop is Suzhou No. 1 Silk Mill. Suzhou has a long and rich history of silk culture, including mulberry tree and silk worm cultivation and turning raw silk into beautiful fabric. The Suzhou No. 1 Silk Mill has been a proud steward of this heritage for over 80 years. It's more like a museum which shows you how the silk is made from cocoons from the beginning and the whole silk process. Not to be missed.

Made famous in a poem by Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji, this Buddhist temple is known for its large bells, unique black roof and domed bridge. After lunch, drive to Pingjiang Historic Street. To experience the authentic taste of city life in old Suzhou, a stroll down Street, which is a great way to get acquainted with the local vibe. The No.1 Silk Factory, it shows the history of Suzhou silk and some ancient collections; the working spot, where you can see how the silk is made. Meanwhile it also describes the history of the development of Chinese silk response which further profound Chinese culture. In this factory you can not only see how the silk is processed from worm to the final product, but also learn some histories of silk in China.

 

Tongli Water Town: At last, drive you to Tongli, it is one of most famous ancient water towns in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, which are famous for their rivers, ancient bridges and house complexes. Tongli occupies an area of 51 square miles (133 square kilometers) with a population of 55,000. The city is separated by 15 rivers into seven islets, which are connected through 49 ancient bridges. The most famous bridges among the 49 bridges in Tongli are the three bridges called Taiping (peace), Jili (luck) and Changqing (celebration) bridges, which has been important landmarks of the place and regarded as the sacred architecture by the locals. Tongli is located a short drive from Suzhou and about an hour drive outside of Shanghai. Tongli Water Town deserves its name of a “museum of ancient architectures” as there are many homes and temples dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Designed along the riverside and embellished with carved windows, porcelain furniture, figured clay bricks, flying eaves, dapper gardens and tiny stairs leading all the way down to the water, these complexes named Tongli Water Town could be a shining pearl among the water townships south of Yangtze.
